In September or October of every second year, a group of German students from Bertha von Suttner Gymnasium visit our school, Arthur A. Leach Junior High School.  They stay with Canadian families for approximately two weeks.  Their program involves exposing them to Manitoba's school system, and to cultural, historical, geographical and economic realities of our area - Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.  Included are activities such as farm visitations, exploration of Oak Hammock Marsh and Spirit Sands, Museum of Man and Nature, a celebration of Manitoba's Aboriginal culture and an evening with the Manitoba Moose and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
